Zack Zook (b. 1984, Brooklyn) is an artist and entrepreneur based in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Zook has been immersed in street photography and portraiture since 1997, cultivating a lifelong passion for capturing urban life and personal narratives.
From 2005 to 2014, he directed events, development, and publicity for BookCourt in Brooklyn and served as executive editor and publisher of Cousin Corinne’s Reminder, an annual art journal he founded.
In 2015, Zook transitioned to directing and curating at sevenminusseven (Alternative Art Alliance), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art space based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he contributed through 2017.
By 2020, he had launched the 81C brand, balancing capital investment with positive community impact. The 81C brand is dedicated to supporting the local arts scene, creating meaningful opportunities for artists, and developing resources for emerging talent. Through 81C Arts, a nonprofit organization he founded in 2017, Zook has led all development efforts, including the opening of a sister location in the historic Camille Pissarro building, which now houses art studios and classroom/workshop space.
In 2023, he established an art and education advisory council for 81C Arts to further 81C Arts’ mission of positively impacting community youth.
In 2024, Zook expanded 81C with the launch of the 81C Grand Residence, a venture aimed at attracting visitors to the U.S. Virgin Islands seeking sophisticated design, historic restoration, and access to local arts.
Since 2014, Zook has also owned and operated Zook Industries, a construction firm in the US Virgin Islands, and has previously held a project management role with Rock Consulting, where he managed high-end homes and oversaw the construction of a new-build luxury residence of over 10K square feet.
